Day 424: Nov 17,2010

Had slept at 8:30am. Slept until 5pm. Got refreshed, went for snacks and continued watching naruto. exercised, then went for dinner. Came back, worked on blog idea for some time, then watched naruto. Uday came and said t plan for this weekend to Khajurao or agra. Had posted the blog idea on the Blondie, and got 3 responses. Informed them about the plan i had and got positive response. Tried solving the last layer of Rubik's cube using OLL method. There are 57 algo's. started with 3 of them for now.

Day 423: Nov 16,2010
had a RnS quiz today. had slept arnd 3:30am. Inspite of having alarm, it didnt ring (or i didnt hear it) Uday had also dozed off for the quiz. hence, missed the first quiz in MBA. had ATSC and M&A class today. in ATSC class, the recommendation in Nucleon case which i had thought off was refuted at the end of the class. Good presentation by the Harsh's group. The Pcom grp unexpectedly made a good presentation more on numbers. NPV, position matrix, firm resource, usage matrix -- all jargons were playing around. ATSC surprise quiz.. then had quiz in M&A too. came back, relaxed in room for sometime, exercised then after dinner, went to library. saw the M&A project for sometime, didnt get much clue, then came across the film on Kiran Bedi, yes Madam, sir. was inspiring to see it. tried seeing few other videos on her. Then worked on the CV for sometime. Wasnt feeling sleepy, so continued watching Naruto.

Day 421: Nov 14,2010

Got up for the special SDM guest lecture at 9. the lecture was taken by the director of Sony sales. was an interestin session with references to the reality of sales job and how innovation can be made. then came back to room and saw naruto. slept while seein it, woke at 5pm. Cleaned the room after a long time, put the clothes for washing then went for snacks. had dinner and then went thro subject for sometime. then watched the movie social network. was cool.

Day 422: Nov 13,2010:
had sdm class in the morning. had done a nite out. had MCT presentation in the afternoon so had to be awake. But was wasting time on watchin sitcom's, and it was morning, so decided to remain awake. slept thro sdm class and then had mct presentation. went on well with maam. then came back, saw some more sitcom and then dinner. went to insti party arnd 11. danced a bit too. retired to bed by 3am.

Day 421: Nov 12,2010

Days have been pretty routine. Classes in the morning with the night times running up fast. Had a ATSC presentation on monday. Went to Chappan Bhog with Girish on Tuesday for the MCT project review. Met Shekar and got inputs on Chappan bhog activities. Funy thing, got caught by police for not having bike papers. ended up paying 80 bucks. Have presentation on friday too. Have RS class today for 4 hrs. special guest lecture. Have MCT meeting with Prof on Saturday. Havent being able to write any blog nor do any useful activity. Most of t time spent on Naruto and sleeping. Have to get back soon.

Day 414: Nov 05,2010

Woke up arnd 9am,but had some dream which was too good to leave. Continued dreaming untill 12, and then still was lying in the bed. Woke up arnd 3:30, after getting a call from dad. Then refreshed and then went to Pooja. Being an ethnic wear day, people had really taken it up with gusto. One could see a flurry of bright sarees, chudidars and kurta's. Was watchin Afro-American with 2 more episodes to go, so came back to room. Had dinner and then resumed t sitcom watch.

Day 413: Nov 04,2010
RnS class had been cancelled. got up, exercised for a bit. Went for BE class and then MCT class. We had session on implementing change.For the case, Maam asked us to play a role play,with me, saradha and udayan as the management team, the whole class ended up being the labor union. we were supposed to negotiate with them for a work issue and get their involvement. The session was funny, with the so called union tryin to blabber something just for t sake of causing argument. udayan was very patient and tried answerin them. saradha had taken a silent vow and remained silent. I chipped in sometimes, making it clear, either work or dont work. Somehow t roleplay ended, with a unique vision statement being made with both the management and the union working together. Still, t vision ended up being like "To be the best company having employee friendly rules with a single minded focus to HAVE THE HIGHEST PAID WORK FORCE. lol ;D what company would try making tat...
Came back and being Diwali next day, didnt do anything much useful, except reading a case. Started with the Afro-American episode.

Day 412: Nov 03,2010
Had t 3 normal classes. Discussed with Amita maam about certain things. Got over grade sheet for Term 4 today, had crossed 6 for the first time in IIML, still had managed to get only 6.61. had targeted 7.. Still.. life goes on.

Day 369: Sept 21,2010

Slept around 5am. So woke up aroun 10:25. Reached class 5 mins late. The attendance had being already taken, t prof gave a surprise quiz on the case to be read on tat day. After t class, asked t RA for attendance, he refused sayin latecomers wont get attendance. This term's first attendance missing starts. Then had a 2.5 hrs break, which was utilized by dozin off. Then had M/A class, which was as usual. had a surprise quiz in tat too. After t class, had evening snacks and started t project grp allotment for R&S course. After tat, started with MCT ppt on t book 'Only t paranoids survive'. Maddy asked me, uday to join her for celebrating TG's bday at 8. left t phone in room and went to TG room while she went for collectin t cake. She didnt turn up till 8:30. Found her coming out of Mess, kinda pissed off coz had planned few activities, so shouted at her for delayin it. seems t cake was not ready. She got emotional. Somehow convinced her, and went back to room. Later went to TG room, where Kiran, Maddy, Uday, Gitanjali & abhinav were there. after cutting t cake, and smearing it over TG, TG smeared some cake on Kiran. Kiran, did t same to me. I took more cake and put it on him. thus ensued a battle between us - kiran tryin to put cake on me, and i stoppin him. Went back to room, changed dress and came back to have dinner. Then went to CC for completing the MCT ppt and readin a case. Time close to 4am now. Gotta hit t sack...!

Day 368: Sept 20,2010

Had a 10:30 class. Had slept around 5:30 yesterday. Woke up around 10am. After the ATSC class, had lunch and came back and started the paranoid book, had 2o more pages to read, so was able to finish it finally. Dozed off for a while, got up with 10 mins to go. Refreshed and ran to the class. The prof announced a surprise quiz on t case which was to be read today. There were a set of 4 questions to be answered, one questions for 4 grps of students he had segmented t class into. When he was about to collect t papers, he asked if we had read t case. except 4-5 students,t rest of t class was ignorant of the case. t rest of t class went by t prof giving us lecture of properly read t case along with discussin few details of t case. After that we had a leadership class, which I, maddy & uday wanted to sit through. Just before t class started, i and uday approached madam and asked her t permission. to our surprise, she asked us not to attend this session and probably come for future classes. So we went back and put on the movie 'Bicentennial man'. T movie was sweet but kinda dragging and long. after that, maddy joined us, uday and she started workin on their SDM report while i dozed off. Later, got call from shop socially founder regarding a live project which thy had floated. t call went well and then had dinner. I and maddy met soumya after dinner and we sent t mail to red river owner regarding another live project. Then came to CC and read t ATSC case for tom. started work on the first love, part 4, but the flow wasnt present. Somehow, wrote a part of it. rest of it to be taken later. almost 5am now. gotta hit t sack now.

Day 367: Sept 19,2010

Woke up relaxingly around 11:30. had to go out for Just tea work which had being pending for 3 days. Uday had got Gopi's bike so got it and went outside with Alok. Roamed across the city for close to 3 hrs. Seems due to the upcoming court decision on Babri Masjid, military had been deployed in several places. Did the required shopping and then came back. Uday wanted to do some shoppin. So went along with him to Sahara mall. He did with his shoppin and came back to colg by 9. Had dinner and got down to finishin the Paranoid book. Had to make a presentation on it for the mct class. so gotta finish it by today.

Our proposal for a redriver competition had been shortlisted for the final round. Had planned to meet for sometime around dinner time, couldnt do so as Madhavi had some b-plan work. so tat got postponed to midnight. Also, had 2 reading for ATSC course, and the first love-4th part has been pending since long. so lets see how much iam able to finish.

Day 366: Sept 18,2010

Had 12:30 class, yet woke by 9. Read the paranoid book for sometime, sent mails for Just Tea and dozed off for sometime. Woke up exactly at 12:30, rushed to t class. The case discussion on Goodyear tires went on. Then had planned to go out for just tea work. But couldnt get a bike, as first yrs exams had gotten over today, hence most of them had gone out. tried arrangin for a bike, couldnt find any. spent t remainin tme watching resident evil movie. later, in evening, dozed off for sometime, then had dinner. Madhavi's brother joined us for dinner, and after dinner had tulsi chai in Just tea. was tastin it for t first time, so it was really nice. Then went out for a walk. came back, read t paranoid book and slept off.

Day 365: Sept 17,2010

Had 12:30 SDM class. woke up around 9:30. In SDM class, there was a photography session. It was funny to see ppl posing while the camera man was clicking the photos. Then after lunch, had special R&S class. it was a lengthy session, mostly t slides were being run through. Had to go out for Just tea work, but alok had just returned from sourcing. so postponed the trip to tom. It was quite sometime since i had met Soumya, so had a a long chat, and then went back to room. After dinner, went to Library, since Chess selection was there. the marathon chess games went on. played from 9:30 till 2:30.

Day 364: Sept 16,2010

Just woke up 5 mins b4 the class. Rushed to the R&S class. Being the first class, the prof made every student share his expectation from the course. It was a quite a creativity test, for students to come up with new expectations which they wouldnt have thought of before. Then had BE class. Today, we comparing the growth of China & India. Few facts were interesting like India gets the maximum FDI flow from Mauritius. After BE, we had MCT class. We had 2 readings to read, i had read one reading. Fortunately, the discussion went on discussin about the changes which companies face. Wanted to go for swimming, but remained in room and did some exercise. had a Just tea meeting at Midnight. Then started with the first episode of BBT season 3 and then watched a KungFu movie. Slept by 2:30.

Day 363: Sept 15,2010

Today's R&S class was cancelled, so woke up aaram se at 11:30. Had BE class. The prof was very nice and went about explainin the basics of BE and the course outline. Then after lunch, the MCT class started. The prof had done a detailed backgrnd research on each student and went about discussin the expectations from the class. She had made the people specializing in Strategy as the groups coordinator. So i was made responsible for one grp. The sec 'C' junta - Me, James, Sahil, Mukesh formed a group. After snacks, went to Swimming. It was refreshin to swim after a long time. Spent close to 1.5 hrs. read the intel novel till dinner. Then, had some JustTea work. Slept by 4:30.

Day 362 : 14th sept 2010

Got up Just in Time to attend the class. Had plenty of eco concepts being taken up in the Applied theory in Strategy class. After Lunch, Uday caught up to work on his Mahindra form. So it went on, me lying in the bed and suggesting ideas,while uday customizing it. Had a 2:45 class, so went off for that. Class was as it had been yesterday,more generic & less subject related. We had a management consulting workshop starting at 6:30. when it started we came to know that it was a 3 hour session. It was a fun workshop, meant to simulate the various work done by consultants. We had few learnings at the end. thgt will get more idea on actual work style of consultants, but this one was more about the kind of work they do. Was feeling very sleepy, so after having dinner, came back and hit the sack while watching BBT.

Uday woke me up around 2am, had some index work to be done. Got busy with it and the tradition of sleeping early goes on...

Day 361 : 13th sept 2010

Nowadays, sleeping after 4 had become more of a trend. God knows how my biological clock had shifted. Due to continuous medication, the cold had subsided a bit. Uday woke me arnd 10. Rushed to the Applied thoery in Strategy class. The prof seems fairly unharmful but was effective in making half the class doze off to sleep within half an hour. Later, had a 2 hour break, came back to room, sat with uday for his mahindra internship form and dozed off for a while. Then had a 2:45 - Merger & Acquisition class, the prof seemed to reminisce more about the foreign country (we had few Stex students in the class) and analyzing psychographic dissection of people than about M&A.

Finally towards the end, we had few slides on the basics of M&A.The competition summary deadline was today. So had to submit it by midnight. Subbu had some visa work so he went to city. I used the time to take a small nap, watch few episodes of BBT. Subbu returned by 7 pm & i and uday went to CC. Had a fun time finalizing the doc while pulling each other's leg. After dinner, had a JT meeting with Alok, Gyanendra. After that, we were able to finish the doc by 12, and submitted it by 12:15. As had nothing much to do, watched BBT for sometime. Then browsed online for sometime, then decided to go back to room.

Day 360 : 12th sept 2010

Perfect activity waiting on a sunday, our ConB presentation to the Prof. The prof had magnamaniously agreed to extend the project submission after the vacation. never did we know how painful it is to work your ass off in the first day of a new term.To make matters worse, i had caught a bad cold. Woke up around 10:45, and rushed for the ppt. we ppl had agreed to meet at library for a discussion before the presentation. James & Vivek were chosen to the knights in armour for our group (They will be making the presentation). the schedule got delayed by an hour due to one group last minute doubt clarifying sessions during their presentation. For us, I wont say it was a great success, our project marks would showcase it, but it was fairly decent. Then after lunch, took some tablets and had rest. Later met with Subbu & uday for the discussion in CC.

After dinner, invited Uday & Maddy to come and eat the sweets which Mom had packed up with instruction to eat it on the 1-2nd day itself, and here was i opening it on the 4th day. As expected one sweet box had fell to the fungal attack, the other was relatively still safe. We chit chatted for a while, savouring the sweet. I had composed some shayari (impromtu hindi shayari) while having dinner, and was teasing Uday with the village girl. He tried to turn the tables on me by saying i wrote it for someone. Maddy had teamed up with uday in teasing me. anyhow, seeing my shayari, she got inspiration to write one for her soul mate ;). And successfully wrote one. [Uday was of t view that the guy will get melted after hearing to her romantic poem]. Then had a meeting with PJ regarding Just Tea. Then came back to room, watched few episodes of BBT & finally hit the sack

Day 359 : 11th sept 2010

Had slept around 8am after finishing the first season of Big Bang. By the time, i had slept, Maddy & uday were awake and had started the Ganesh puja ritual. As i was about to enter the embers of sleep, i could hear their knocks to wake me up for the puja. Unmindful of all that, i slumbered on. Seems the highlight of the puja, was Uday's english narration of the Ganesha's entire life story along with the decoration of the puja items in his room. A snapshot of it is below:

Finally woke up around 1:45pm. Then refreshed and sat with uday to finish t Prom strat project whose deadline was at 5pm. We added the necessary things and completed the work.

Had a meeting with Subbu & uday for another project. Met at library arnd 6:30. since, we had ConB project submission at 11pm, i was working on it, while contributing to the discussions. Vivek & tomsta joined me at library around 9 and after dinner, we stretched completing the project report till 11:30 (submission was due at 10:30)

Then took a small break and was chatting with uday in his room. Finally, went back to library, where i had left my lappi, to wind some minor work.

Day 358 : 10th sept 2010

Slept around 5am yesterday. Had told uday, Maddy to wake me at morning 10am so that I can have breakfast( one of few miracles which happens rarely). Finally I woke up at 11:30 (maddy gave a wake up call around 11:45;Uday had come after his 8:45 class and woken me supposedly, as claimed by him, but I don’t recall anything like tat). Then rushed to the 12:30 class. A funny incident happened today. I knew that I had only 1 class on Friday/Saturday. The class we had is SDM(Sales & distribution management.) Somehow, it stuck it my mind that I had a BE (business environment) class. (We have BE class on Wednesday/Thursday, at 12:30pm). I rushed to t pgp block and saw the timetable for the classroom and sat in CR 101. I remembered that Subbu & maddy were in my BE class, so after settling in the class (arnd 12:15) I waited for them to come to class. The clock struck 12:30 and there was no news of either of them. I enquired from a student if it was BE section C. He said , it was BE section B. I rushed out and saw the timetable. It said BE-section C class was supposed to take place in CR 101. Where in other people were sitting there. Confused I went to pgp office and asked the incharge person tat the class isn’t happening as put up in the time table. He said no beta, check properly, it will be going on as mentioned in the time table. I checked in front of him and told him that BE class-section C which shld happen in CR 101, isn’t happening. Then again I raced downstairs to the time table and was looking at it intently, thought maybe the class might be in CR 102, so checked up the room. Prof Mohanty was taking the class intently, I came back after mumbling some apologies, then went back to the time table. Suddenly, I realized that it was friday and not Thursday and that we have SDM class. Then rushed to the class. No wonder, late sleeping & last minute rushin to class, has its own after effects.

The prof turned out cool and we had a slow paced presentation dragged on for 1.5 hrs. Then had lunch and did some secondary research for t index work. Then spent sometime on a competition work. Then uday came back from his extra PAM class and we went to city for Uday’s Ganesh chaturthi pooja shopping. I also had to repair t mixie & water heater which hadn’t been working for long. Tat experience was an eventful one (which I have thought of sharing it through an exclusive blog article). Just to summarize, I haven’t accompanied my mom for such kinda shopping which went on for 2.5 hrs. we searched the interior of Lucknow for finding a Murthi of Ganesha, which was nowhere present. Somehow we found a place where the murthi’s were being sold and then searched few other required items for pooja. Came back to campus by 9:00 and had dinner. Then sat for a project meeting with Subbu-Uday. Gonna sit for ConB project work shortly. probably another night out !

And it begins

It is said it is good to derive motivation for doing something good. Well, that applies true in this context. OK, the thing iam blabbering about (given the ungodly hour – 3:40 am) is that I have thought of chronicling the daily events in the blog.(yea, I know its quite late, it’s the beginning of the 5th term.yet Better late than never). The thought had been in my mind when the first year started but then the motivation was lacking. Since I have my mainstream blog c’est la vie, and I wasn’t able to dedicate much time for that, maintaining another blog would have been too demanding on my time (Not that I use my time in a productive manner). But then i have been blogging less & less nowadays. That too with big intermittent gaps between each blog post. So that’s the motivation now to start the chronological recording, to start blogging something on a daily basis so as to ensure that I set up the habit of daily blogging.

Well, my motivation in this case would be a fellow colleague called Shivkumar who maintains his chronological diary from I don’t know when. It’s a brief peek into the tid bits of his daily life in IIML. You can find his blog @ http://hell-2009-2011.blogspot.com/.
So the first post today: as today is one day prior to the start of 5th term. A brief snapshot of the previous 4 terms in 4 sentences.

The 1st year (June 2009) students were divided into different sections (A – F) and I was in Section C. I was a part of Mess committee which I eventually resigned at the start of the term 4. I was also involved in running a startup ‘Just Tea’ – a tea kiosk along with 5 batchmates. Term 4 final days were testing everyone’s nerve and after a 5 day holiday stint, we are back to heLL and the routine starts again.

Day 357 : 9th sept 2010

Arrived in lucknow by morning train (Rapti sagar) and reached college by 11:30. The registration were supposed to be from 9-12 slot and 2-5 slot. Re-Arranged my room and after getting it cleaned, had lunch and went for registration. The queque for receiving books was longer than tirupati devotees queque so came back to room, Saw 2 episodes of Big Bang and then dozed off for a while. Then got the books during snacks time. Then came and did some sec research for a project proposal. Then after dinner, met Soumya(who had a fractured leg for 2 weeks and has been bed ridden since) for sometime, chit chatted with her & then we went to maddy’s (Madhavi) for the PS project meeting (Promotional strategy). After that, we had Just tea meeting along with Anita & prasanth Jangareddi(PJ) till 12. Then went for a tea break, and started ConB project submission. EOD story for today :)
